I replied to the coordinator's mass-emailed message; tactfully pointing out the irony. I'm not completely sure it qualifies as irony, but maybe just sheer counter-intuitive, self-serving actions with a purpose? I don't know.
Either way, I got this response to my e-mail:
Erick,
The point you make is very valid. Pizza is not the best food for diabetics. Although the pizza they bring is a very thin crust pizza and is not as high in carbs as a pan pizza, employees with diabetes may want to bring their own lunch."
I suppose he's right- those diabetics can be so high maintenance. This isn't about them, this is about us being aware of them. Besides, even if it were about them, wouldn't loading them up with a carbohydrate dense, high fat content dish only make them more aware of their diabetes? Touche', sir.
