Sometimes I feel like posting a link or a snippet of information but the problem with that is that I find so much interesting/abhorrent/slightly abnormal shit on the web each day that I'd eventually flood my blog and it would be insanity around here. However, I came across Tumblr the other day, and this kind of solves the problem for me. I don't even have to abandon this blog. As you can see to the right, I have my concise posts feeding from my tumblr to my blogger. If you're wondering why I need two blogs; I don't. But the thing is, Tumblr isn't being marketed as an outlet for blogging, per se.
- What's a tumblelog?
To make a simple analogy: If blogs are journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks.
You can also look at tumblelogs as slightly more structured blogs that make it easier, faster, and more fun to post and share stuff you find or create.
Here's a description of what Tumblr is directly from their site:
Tumblelogs.Unlike blogs, tumblelogs aren't designed like a newspaper column. They're the easiest way to share everything you find, love, hate, or create — even if you're not wordy.
| It's easy.Tumblr features the most refined and simple interface we've ever built. No complicated navigation. No code to learn. Share anything with just a couple clicks. |
It's powerful.Tumblr is feature packed. With full support for custom domains, custom HTML themes, markdown, audio uploads, video uploads, automatic scaling of embedded videos, instant message posting, the super-intelligent bookmarklet, a loaded API, and a lot more, all of the hard work is done for you.
| It's mobile.Face it, 90% of the interesting stuff in your life happens when you're away from your computer. So next time you take a photo on your phone or catch your friends saying something funny, send it to Tumblr. |
It's free.Tumblr is free and feature packed. Even advanced features like custom themes, custom CSS, custom domains, audio and video hosting, are standard.
| It's you. Finally, you can express yourself online in a way that's true to yourself without being limited to a "profile". Share anything and customize everything. |
It's also easy to post content without needing to log-in to the Tumblr site. Say you seen an interesting article on nytimes.com. Simply click on the 'share on Tumblr' link on your toolbar, and a window will pop-up that allows you to post directly to your Tumblr. It automatically appends the post title and the link (which you may modify, of course.)

Anyway - I'll still be posting on here but look out for snippets from my Tumblr on the right hand side from now on.
